Overview

“Favoriting” or adding products to a wishlist is an e-comm standard and a feature users expect – however, The Tile Shop lacked this useful feature. With a focus on PDP, I aimed to make it easy for signed-in users who were still in the consideration phase to save products and easily add them to cart later.

Pain points & opportunities

Tile Shop users were unable to save items they liked – and since tile tends to have a long consideration-to-purchase journey, this was a key area of opportunity to improve the site experience. Additionally, tile is often project-based, so I wanted to give users (particularly repeat customers) the ability to organize their saved items.

Other considerations and ideas:

  • Recommendation carousels personalized based on projects

  • Triggered emails persuading users with projects to add saved items to cart (especially if price has recently decreased), or share a project with a design expert for a free consultation

  • In the future, ability for guest users to access feature

  • In the future, PLP functionality

Law of UX:

Jakob’s Law: Users spend most of their time on other sites, so they prefer your site to work the same way as all the other sites they already know.
